Steve Laube Writer's Workshop

It's pouring down rain here in Phoenix, but even the rain can't put a damper on my excitement this morning, because I'm going to a one day writing workshop and Steve Laube is the speaker!

Steve is an Christian writer's agent, who is based here in the Valley and the "dream agent" of many of us newbie fiction writers. I'm eager to learn all he has to share about the writing craft and selling what you write.

The workshop is sponsored by Christian Writers of the West, our local chapter of American Christian Fiction Writers. I'm a member of ACFW and have been planning to join CWOW, so  today is the perfect day to do that. (Rain or no rain.)

My good friend, Leola Ogle and I are riding together, which makes it even more fun. We'll probably stop at Starbucks and grab a latte first, (that's a given) and chat all the way there about writing and agents and publishers. We'll soak it all up, make copious notes and then ride home with much more to talk about.

Oh, it's good to have a writer friend!

What good is knowledge?

I just read a great article on the Faithwriter's Blog called Don't Just Learn It. that answers the question, "What good is knowledge?". It's not only has a great application for writers, but for all Christians. Pop over and read it if you have a couple of spare minutes. Just click on the link above.

Speaking of Faithwriters - if you're a writer and you're not aware of this great group of people, check out the site. They have weekly judged writing challenges using prompts, ongoing blog post contests with PAID prizes, a forum, where you can get to know other writers, articles and workshops to hone your writing skills and so much more.

Click here to check out the Faithwriters website.

Hope to see you hanging around the water cooler in the Faithwriters forum!

A Great Start to a New Year

2013 is off to a great start!

So far, I've...
  • Taken off 5 pounds
  • Dropped my sugar levels by 50 points
  • Spent some wonderful mornings with God and my Jesus Calling devotional
  • Started a new blog
That last one, started a new blog - I needed another blog like I need a hole in the head, but that's what I love to do - create new blogs with new looks and fun new concepts. So when a friend asked if I knew of any free ebooks that she might like to read, I did a little research and was shocked to see how many Christian authors have books that are free in Kindle and/or Nook versions right now.

That got my blogging wheels turning. What if there was a blog that let everyone know about these incredible books, and My Fiction Fix was born.

If any of my author friends would like for me to feature your fiction book, just drop me a note. I'm open to guest blogs by you, the author and your book doesn't have to be free.

So, how's your New Year shaping up?

And I'm feelin' good!

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

I just love that short span of time between Christmas and New Years Day. I use it to reflect on the good, the bad and the ugly of the past year, to think about what I would like to do different and ponder the possibilities of the coming year. After a couple of days, I usually come away with a general theme for the coming year. This year it's...

2013 - The Year of Clarity

Oh, how I need clarity in so many areas and I'm excited about seeing things through the eyes of the Lord...to see curcumstances as He sees them. To clearly see His path for me, to see and know Him...really know Him.

So as this new year starts, I'm excited, I feel a refreshing washing over me. I have renewed hope...

And I'm feeling good!

Do you have a word, a direction, a theme for the New Year?
